In difficult times focus on others

Luke 23:34 But Jesus was saying, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing."

What a stressful moment it must have been for Jesus to have the power to freed himself from torment and agony and not do it.  His focus on releasing us from eternal torment and agony is what kept him from freeing himself, his love for us is what kept him from fleeing that suffering.

What a great exemplar Jesus is.  When we are going through a difficult situation, the most important thing to do is not focus on the pain and suffering it is causing, but on serving and helping others overcome their pain and suffering for there is where the great spiritual benefit is.  Jesus did not focus on the excruciating pain, but on what he was going to accomplish for us and his Father.  Jesus was determined to reconcile us back to his Father.

Therefore, when you are going through difficult times try to serve others and you will reap great spiritual benefits.  Allow God to focus on your problems while we focus on serving him.  God is in control.  I have found that helping others is therapeutic and helps me not become obsessed about my problems, but instead allows me to be used as a vessel for Christ.

Philippians 4:4-7 Final Exhortations
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Amen!
