The Storm

Have you ever been in a storm, not your typical rainy storm, but a storm that shook the boots of your feet?

Jesus and his disciples were on a boat when suddenly a storm hit the lake.  At the time, Jesus was asleep.  As the storm intensified, water started splashing into the boat, and the winds began to sway the boat frightening the disciples.  One can only imagine how terrifying it must have been to be in a storm and not being able to take shelter.  The disciples fearfully rushed to Jesus to ask Him to stop the boat from sinking.  Jesus then, calmly rose up and commanded the storm to seize; the storm instantly heeded to the command.  He then said to his disciples, why are you so frightened?  Don’t you have any faith?  Matthew 8:23-27

We all know that our Lord never sleeps, and is always attentive to his children, especially when we are experiencing difficult times.  Jesus knows everything, and I believe He allowed the storm to pass to increase their faith.  Do you really know who Jesus is?  Do have any idea of the power He has over us and the entire universe?  Why are you allowing your circumstances to take the place of your Master, Jesus?  What are you holding on to?  Why haven’t you made up your mind to seek Him?
The truth is that, we are weak, because we do not believe that Jesus can make a difference in our lives.  We are weak, because we do not seek, pray, or read His word.  We need to understand that life will have its disadvantages although it should not be an excuse to remain as we are.  We need to always remember that Jesus Christ came to give us life, and give it more abundantly, here on earth.  Listen to what David told his son, Solomon in Chronicles 28:9, “And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the LORD sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.”  If you seek, you will find Him.  Things will not magically change for us unless we seek the heavenly things first.  Hebrew 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Listen, I am not minimizing your storm, the Lord knows there are at times when it is extremely difficult to keep our heads above the water; however, we cannot change a thing about it, so why sit there and allow it to control your mind.   Let it go, start seeking, start praying, start reading the word, make a change in your life.  Find a healthy church, talk with positive motivated people, but decide quickly knowing that our adversary the devil walks about as a lion, seeking whom he may devour.  1 Peter 5:8

Faith increases as you continue to seek Him through prayer and reading His word.  He loves you and cares you for.
